Avonglen was founded in 2003 and since then, the ever-growing team has worked with the owners of over one hundred businesses across a wide variety of sectors, ranging from pre-revenue technology start-ups and companies experiencing rapid growth to more mature operations with revenues exceeding £100 million.
Director, Tim Hilton and the late William Harris, were brought together in 1991 at The Britt Allcroft Group (subsequently called Gullane Entertainment plc) -– the business that brought us Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends and many other children’s characters. They were part of a team who built this from a six-person £400k turnover company into a FTSE listed business with 150 employees and £50m turnover.
What their many years of varied industry experience had shown them was that there was a wide misunderstanding of the role of a Finance Director and that it wasn’t just about reporting the numbers. Every business, no matter what size or sector, needs some kind of strategic financial direction.
Sue Gray joined Avonglen as a Finance Manager in 2012. With a career of over 40 years in business, Sue brings a wealth of experience across many industry sectors including leisure, pharmaceuticals, insurance and manufacturing to name but a few. In 2018 we were delighted to appoint Sue to Associate Director.
Lynne Bulstrode joined Avonglen in 2019, having previously worked as a portfolio finance director in a conventional accountancy practice and before that spent ten years working in business. Lynne has relished working in Avonglen’s specialist environment and was promoted to Director in October 2022.
Avonglen’s vision is to provide much needed Finance Director advice, guidance and hands-on support on a flexible, long-term and cost-effective basis to ambitious and growing businesses, or those who are facing change or other challenges.
Our dedicated team of accounting professionals offer a wealth of experience gained in both practice and industry and support your Avonglen Finance Director to deliver strategic direction, commercial development and operational delivery.
