William Harris is currently Non-Executive Director or Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of several companies including a media group, a real time marketing software company, a medical products business and a design-led gifting company. William is using his extensive experience to help all of these companies develop and execute their business strategies and deliver shareholder value.
William was Chairman of Orthoview Holdings Limited, a venture capital backed healthcare IT business, prior to its sale to Materialise NV of Belgium for £8.47m in October 2014. He was instrumental in the company’s international expansion into the US and Japan.
William was Chief Executive of Gullane Entertainment plc until 2002. He helped grow the business from a six-person, £400k turnover business into a London Stock Exchange listed company with a turnover in excess of £50m, 150 employees and offices in the UK, US, Canada and Japan. During his tenure as Chief Executive, Gullane’s share price increased from £1.30 to £4.30, its market capitalisation from £31m to £133m and earnings per share from 6.7p to 20.8p. Gullane was acquired by HIT Entertainment PLC in September 2002.
William qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1981. He has a strong international background, having spent a significant proportion of his business life working in North America.
Tim Hilton is currently acting as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for several venture capital backed businesses including companies in the clean technology, bio pharma, water and telecoms sectors.
As well as providing high-level strategic advice, Tim specialises in leading a team of qualified accountants that provides complete finance function outsourcing to his clients including the management of new rounds of funding for the company, preparation of monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts, preparing budgets and business plans, attending board meetings and minute taking and attending to all company secretarial matters.
Tim qualified as a chartered accountant in 1991 and in the same year he left practice to join The Britt Allcroft Group Limited (subsequently renamed Gullane Entertainment). Over the following ten years, he was a key member of the management team, latterly as Group Finance Director, that floated the media company on the London Stock Exchange in 1996 and grew the business significantly thereafter. Following his departure in 2001, Tim worked initially as an independent consultant, advising and in some cases investing in companies mainly in the TMT sector before founding Avonglen with William Harris in 2003.
Ben is currently Finance Director to a variety of companies, including businesses involved in on-line retail, bricks and mortar retail, wholesale, manufacturing and product development . Ben is providing support to these businesses across all parts of their finance function but with a particular focus on business planning, performance review and enhancement, cash flow management and funding.
For three years, before joining Avonglen, Ben operated as FD for his own portfolio of clients. These clients ranged in size from £5m to £100m turnover, across a diverse range of business sectors. These businesses required help in market repositioning, improving profitability, managing growth, operational improvement and re-financing.
Prior to this Ben was a Finance Director and CFO to a number of private and publicly listed businesses, many with exposure to international markets. The majority of these companies were involved with well-recognised FMCG brands. In these roles, he managed the businesses through periods both of exceptional growth and more challenging times.
Ben qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in 1997.
