In 2003 Alibi Communications plc, was a small AIM-listed media group, which had been involved in TV drama production and feature film distribution, having spent the money it had raised at flotation in 1999.
William Harris merged a small licensing business into Alibi, assumed the role of Chairman, having been invited to do so by the previous incumbent, raised some finance and refocused the combined business on Intellectual property ownership targeted at a family audience. The company was subsequently renamed Coolabi.
Tim Hilton from Avonglen assumed the role of Finance Director. William then recruited a new Chief Executive, Jeremy Banks, who led a number of acquisitions and fundraisings for the company, before it was taken private in a management buyout backed by Edge Performance VCT in 2011.
Coolabi has recently launched a new Clangers TV Series which is being aired on CBeebies and Scream Street which is aired on CBBC.
William Harris remains a Non-Executive Director of Coolabi and Tim Ricketts, initially sourced through Avonglen has become full-time Finance Director.
